Volunteering At Kent Hospital

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Kent Hospital!

Kent Hospital is proud to have community members of all ages and backgrounds volunteer with us. Whether it is checking in visitors and patients at the front desk or ringing up a beautiful scarf in our Gift Shop, our volunteers play a vital role by providing essential support to our patients, families, and staff.

We are always looking for enthusiastic, caring people to join our team in volunteer services. There are many roles and departments in which our volunteers lend a hand. We strive to place you in a position that aligns with your interest, skills, and schedule. Some of the volunteer roles currently available:

  • Patient Experience
  • Emergency Department
  • Gift Shop
  • Ambassadors
  • Chaplaincy
  • Front Desk
How do I become a volunteer at Kent?

The first step to becoming a volunteer is submitting an inquiry form by clicking the button below. After the application is received, you can expect the following:

  1. An online interview
  2. Health screen per RI Department of Health guidelines. This includes TB tests and immunization screening. Please know that during flu season, an annual flu shot is required of all volunteers unless medically contradicted, per physician documentation. All volunteers must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
  3. Criminal Background check
  4. Online orientation and/or in-person orientation
  5. Department specific training

Both the health screening and the criminal background check are performed by the hospital.
