Kent Hospital Campus Construction Updates

Important Information for Patients and Visitors

Kent Hospital is growing to better serve our community.

As part of a major campus improvement project, we'll be expanding services, creating new patient care spaces, and improving access to care. While construction is underway, the hospital will remain open and fully operational.

Patient safety, access, and convenience remain our top priorities. Some traffic patterns, parking areas, and entrances will change during construction. We'll post updates on this page and throughout the campus to help you navigate your visit.

As of June 29, 2026, the hospital main entrance will move to a temporary location for the duration of construction.

Please allow extra travel time, arrive early for appointments, and follow posted signs and directions when visiting campus.

Traffic and Parking Information

Before you visit

Construction will affect traffic flow, parking locations, and some building entrances throughout the project.

To help ensure a smooth visit:

Enter campus through the Health Lane entrance off Toll Gate Road.
Follow posted signs to your destination.
Allow extra travel time.
Check this page for the latest updates before your appointment.
Ask staff for assistance if you need help finding your destination.

Valet Parking Available

For patients and visitors with mobility concerns, valet parking will be available at the temporary main entrance during construction. Valet service is available daily from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., including weekends and holidays.

Kent will be adding valet service at the Ambulatory Services Pavilion (ASP) entrance.

Current Updates

Main Entrance Relocation
As of June 29, the main hospital entrance is moving to the location noted on the map. Patients and visitors should use the designated temporary entrances and follow posted signs throughout campus.

Hospital Entrances May Have Changed
Updated traffic patterns and entrances are now in effect. Please review the entrance guide below before your visit and allow extra time to reach your destination.
Retail Pharmacy Relocation
As of June 29, the Retail Pharmacy will move to a location near the temporary main hospital entrance. Dedicated 15-minute pharmacy pickup parking spaces will be available nearby for your convenience.
Parking and Traffic Changes
Construction-related traffic and parking changes take effect Monday, June 29. Parking locations may vary depending on your destination. Please follow posted signs and staff directions when arriving on campus.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is patient drop-off during construction?

The main entrance to the Kent Hospital campus from Toll Gate Road remains unchanged. Signage will be posted throughout campus to help patients and visitors navigate construction-related changes.

While some drop-off locations remain the same, others may change during construction. Please review the Traffic and Parking Information section and campus map on this page before your visit to find the appropriate entrance and drop-off location for your destination.

What are the typical construction hours?

Most construction activities take place between 6:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Will construction affect appointments or hospital operations?

No. Kent Hospital remains open and fully operational during construction. Patients should continue attending appointments, procedures, and visits as scheduled.

Will emergency access or ambulance entrances change?

No. Access to the Emergency Department and ambulance entrance remains unchanged throughout construction.

Will there be impacts to nearby businesses and residents?

We do not anticipate significant impacts to nearby businesses or residents. Construction deliveries and activities are carefully planned to help minimize disruptions to the surrounding community.

Will the Retail Pharmacy remain open?

Yes. Beginning June 29, 2026, the pharmacy will operate from a temporary first-floor location near the temporary main entrance.

How long will construction last?

Construction is expected to continue through 2028 as the project is completed in phases.

Directions to Kent Hospital

From North of Warwick, Rhode Island

Take Interstate 95 South to Exit 27-B (Route 117 West). Go west onto Route 117 to the first traffic light. Turn right onto Commonwealth Avenue and turn right onto Leon Whipple Road for 1/4 mile to the end of the road. Take a left on to Toll Gate Road. Kent Hospital will be on the right.

From Connecticut

Take Interstate 95 North to Exit 27 (Route 117 West). Go east on Route 117 to the second traffic light and turn left onto Toll Gate Road. Kent Hospital is up the road on the right. The distance from the 95 exits to the hospital is approximately 1/2 mile. Blue H signs are posted to guide you.

Public Transportation

Kent Hospital is served by RIPTA busses on the #29 Kent County Connector line. For service to and from West Warwick and Coventry, transfer in Arctic. For service to and from metropolitan Providence, transfer at the Warwick Mall. For service to and from East Greenwich and points south, transfer at Apponaug (Warwick).
