Nuclear medicine procedures provide information about the anatomy of the body and the function of its organs. Very small amounts of radioactive materials, called radiopharmaceuticals, are used to diagnose and/or treat disease. These substances are attracted to specific organs, bones, or tissues within the body. A special nuclear camera then records the activity given off by the radiopharmaceuticals and forms images of the body parts on a computer.
Any radioactivity from the radiopharmaceutical will be eliminated through your urine. You will not notice any changes.
