Spiritual Care

Spiritual Care

Because of Covid 19 restrictions all volunteer activities (Eucharistic Minister, Pastoral Visitors) have been suspended.  The chaplain is present in the hospital Sunday through Tuesday.  Twenty-four hour coverage is provided for emergencies by the Roman Catholic priests Kent County and nearby Cranston.  All activities will resume when restrictions are lifted.  Thank you.

Members of the Pastoral Care department visit patients and their families offering spiritual counseling, renewal and emotional support. The professionally trained and certified chaplains offer patients and families a non-clinical and non-judgmental opportunity to discuss the illness and related moral and ethical issues. There is outreach to patients and families through networking with other hospital departments, area clergy, and support groups.

The interfaith staff includes:
  • Full-time interfaith chaplains
  • Volunteers
  • Chaplains
  • Pastoral visitors and Eucharistic ministers offering prayer, sacraments, and spiritual support

Members of the Pastoral Care department also make visits to home care patients when requested.
