Kent Hospital provides vascular surgery in which diseases of the vascular system, or arteries and veins, are managed by medical therapy, minimally-invasive catheter procedures, and surgical reconstruction.
Stroke or "brain attack" is a vascular illness that can be a devastating and often unexpected event for patients and their families. Often, a stroke is related to the narrowing of the carotid artery in the neck. Another serious vascular event is a weakening in the wall of the aorta, the main blood vessel supplying the body from the heart. This weakening can result in an aortic abdominal aneurysm (AAA), in which the blood vessel bulges and then ruptures. AAA is frequently called a "silent killer" since it can also strike without warning. Venous insufficiency can result in varicose veins, pain, fatigue and swelling of the ankles. Left untreated, these conditions can lead to ulcers.
Our vascular services include: Aneurysms, Carotid Artery Disease, Deep Vein Thrombosis, Peripheral Arterial Disease, Varicose Veins, and Dialysis Access.
