Jamie B. Patterson, MD
Medical Director, The Breast Health Center at Kent Hospital
Dr. Patterson is a breast surgeon and medical director of The Breast Health Center at Kent Hospital. She earned her medical degree at the University of Nevada School of Medicine and completed further training in breast surgical oncology through the University of Southern California/Hoag Breast Oncology Fellowship Program under the renowned breast surgeon, Dr. Melvin Silverstein, who pioneered oncoplastic breast surgery in the United States. In addition to her new leadership role at Kent, Dr. Patterson serves as an assistant clinical professor of surgery at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and assists in training residents and fellows in the Women & Infants Hospital Breast Fellowship Program. She has extensive experience in breast conserving surgery, oncoplastic breast surgery, skin and nipple-sparing mastectomies, pregnancy associated breast cancer, and hidden-scar surgeries.
Bachir J. Sakr, MD
Director, Medical Oncology
Chief, Cancer Program at Kent Hospital
Dr. Sakr joined the Program in Women's Oncology in 2007. Dr. Sakr received a degree in medicine from The Lebanese University in Lebanon, and completed his fellowship in hematology and oncology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pennsylvania. Dr. Sakr sees patients at Women & Infants in his capacity as a full-time hematology and oncology specialist. He is fluent in three languages: Arabic, English, and French.
Benjamin P. Christian
Dr. Christian offers a broad range of reconstructive and cosmetic plastic surgery and hand surgery services to adults and children of all ages. He is board certified in plastic and reconstructive surgery and has additional training and certification in surgery of the hand. Dr. Christian builds caring, professional relationships, and works in a multidisciplinary approach at Kent Hospital, Women & Infants Hospital, and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
Erik A. Hoy, MD, MBA
Dr. Erik Hoy earned his medical degree from Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School. He is a board certified plastic surgeon specializing in aesthetic surgery of the breast and body, reconstructive breast surgery, autologous fat grafting and anatomic breast implants, as well as soft-tissue reconstruction after cancer resection. Dr. Hoy currently practices at Care New England Surgical Care. Dr. Hoy completed an aesthetic/reconstructive breast fellowship in 2012 at Maxwell Aesthetics in Nashville, TN, with the developer of the newest generation “gummy bear” breast implant. He completed his plastic surgery residency at Rhode Island Hospital in 2011 and that same year obtained his master’s in business administration from the University of Rhode Island.
Guy R. Nicastri, MD, FACS
A graduate of Boston College, Dr. Nicastri earned both his master’s degree and medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, DC. He completed his general surgery residency at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA. Before moving to Rhode Island in 2007, Dr. Nicastri was in practice in Connecticut and served as the chairman of surgery at Griffin Hospital in Derby, CT, as well as the director of minimally-invasive surgery at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, CT. A recognized educator, Dr. Nicastri is currently an associate professor of surgery and family medicine at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and also teaches at Johnson and Wales University Physician’s Assistant School. Prior to this, Dr. Nicastri held academic appointments at the medical schools of both Yale and Tufts Universities with several awards for excellence and dedicated surgical teaching.
Sonali V. Pandya, MD
Dr. Pandya is a breast surgeon in both Women & Infants Hospital and Kent Hospital Breast Health Centers. She earned her medical degree from Saint George’s University School of Medicine, Grenada, West Indies, completed a general surgery residency at Albany Medical Center and a society of surgical oncology breast disease fellowship at Women & Infants. Her research interest focuses on breast cancer in young women and she is helping to develop support programs for this group of survivors.
Angela DeRobertis, MD
Dr. DeRobertis graduated with honors from Georgetown University and received her medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University and is board certified by the American Board of Radiology in radiation oncology. She completed her residency training at the MD Anderson Cancer Center, where she went on to teach as an assistant professor of radiation oncology. Dr. DeRobertis also served on the faculty of Harvard Medical School as an assistant professor of radiation oncology and a clinical faculty member of the Massachusetts General Hospital/Dana Farber-Harvard Cancer Center. She sees patients with a variety of malignancies and has a special interest in breast and gynecologic cancers. She has extensive experience with all forms of radiation therapy, including brachytherapy and intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT).
Ambreen Ijaz, MD, Medical Oncologist Hematologist
Ambreen Ijaz, MD, graduated from Fatima Jinnah Medical College, Punjab University Pakistan and pursued her internal medicine residency at Brown University. Due to her profound interest in hematology/medical oncology she joined Tufts University for her fellowship which she completed in 2011. She takes special interest in women’s care, focusing on the treatment of malignant, benign hematologic/oncologic disorders yet optimizing quality of life. Her goal is to always deliver focused efficient care, while being compassionate and empathetic to the needs of her patients. She is triple board certified in internal medicine, hematology, and medical oncology.
