Laurie B. Reeder, MD, is a board-certified thoracic surgeon who sees patients at both Memorial and Kent hospitals. She specializes in non-cardiac thoracic surgery with an interest in thoracic oncology and minimally-invasive thoracic surgery.
Dr. Reeder earned a bachelor of science degree in biomedical engineering from Brown University, and her medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine. After completing a residency at the University of Chicago Hospital, including work in its Thoracic Surgery Laboratory, she completed a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Washington Hospital.
A member of the American College of Surgeons, General Thoracic Surgery Club and Society of Thoracic Surgeons, Dr. Reeder has published in peer-reviewed professional journals and made presentations on such topics as lung cancer, esophageal perforation and pleural effusions. She has made the list of Top Docs in Rhode Island Monthly magazine several times, most recently in 2014.
