Biography

Dr. Fonseca-Valencia is originally from Medellin, Colombia. She earned her medical degree from Universidad de Antioquia in 2006. She completed her Internal Medicine residency in 2013, after which served one additional year as the Chief Medical Resident of the internal Medicine program at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island, an affiliate of The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.

Currently, Dr. Fonseca-Valencia is the medical director of the Internal Medicine Resident’s clinic in Pawtucket, which is one of the main training sites for the outpatient experience for the Internal Medicine program at Kent Hospital. She is also a clinical assistant professor of medicine of the Brown medical school and is involved in the teaching of medical students in Clinica Esperanza. Her interests lie in patient care of the geriatric population, chronic pain management as well as education of the patients and young doctors in training. Dr. Fonseca was recently accepted as Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP).

Dr. Fonseca-Valencia speaks Spanish and lives in Providence with her husband and daughter. She enjoys spending time with her family and exploring beautiful New England.
