Kent Hospital to Seek Regulatory Approval to Develop Angioplasty Program
Kent Hospital is seeking approval to perform both emergency and elective coronary angioplasty procedures. The hospital submitted a letter of intent (LOI) to the Rhode Island Department of Health today stating “intent to develop a coronary angioplasty program within one year” and within the next eight weeks Kent will submit a full application for a certificate of need. Kent to Offer RAID Clinical Trial to Heart Disease Patients
The Kent Hospital Division of Cardiology is offering a new clinical trial, RAID (Ranolazine in High Risk ICD Patients), to patients with heart disease who currently have a cardiac defibrillator or are in need of an implantation. The study will determine how effective the drug, ranolazine, is in reducing the risk of fast and life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias in patients with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD). The event which hosted 130 golfers was held at Potowomut Golf Club in Warwick. Kent Cardiac Arrhythmia Service Performs First Catheter Ablation
Kent Hospital is proud to announce it has recently performed its first catheter ablation procedure.This procedure is used to treat abnormal rapid heart rates (cardiac arrhythmias). Catheter ablation for cardiac arrhythmias involves a minimally invasive approach that utilizes catheters temporarily placed in veins in the leg to gain access to the heart. Details
