Opened in 1951, Kent Hospital is a member of the Care New England Health System and a 359-bed regional medical center. As the largest community hospital in Rhode Island, the institution serves a population of more than 300,000 across central and southern parts of the state, and handles 60,000+ visits per year in its state-of-the-art 24,000 sq. ft., 50-bed Emergency Department.
The hospital is located in the City of Warwick, 11 miles south of Providence and mid-way between Boston and New York directly on Interstate Route 95. It is fully accredited by The Joint Commission and holds numerous other national program and service accreditations, including Top 100 Hospitals in the US by The Solucient Institute.
Kent Hospital has over 2,400 employees, 600 medical staff, and offers a full range of services and specialties including: cardiac catheterization, dialysis, a 15-bed ICU directed by intensivists, CCU, ECCU, orthopedics, cranial and spinal neurosurgery, vascular surgery, inpatient psychiatry and rehabilitation units, a regionally recognized wound recovery center that utilizes hyperbaric treatment, and the second busiest obstetrical department in the state with a level II NICU. Kent Hospital recently inaugurated a newly relocated and renovated infusion center, PET scan, and sleep study center. The hospital also is home to the state’s largest hospitalist program.
