Columbus, OH

Jason Blake earned his medical degree at Nova Southeastern University and attended Ohio State University for his undergrad. In his free time he enjoys hiking, camping, crossfit, going to the beach, reading and learning to cook new things.

When he was asked why he had chosen Kent he said "I chose Kent because it pairs a great community hospital and continuity clinic setting in which to train. It embraces a welcoming, warm, and positive environment between the staff and residents. The location – with close proximity to major cities, yet situated on the ocean close to hiking trails – also drew me in."

Why Kent Hospital?
I wanted to find a program that the residents genuinely enjoy their time together both at work and after work, as well as a rigorous and well-balanced academic experience. I was impressed at the comradery of the residents and the great relationship with the faculty. The Thundermist Health Center stood out to me as an amazing outpatient setting to learn as a resident working with an underserved population through an FQHC medical home. Also, New England is an incredibly beautiful area and Rhode Island allows for easy access to both outdoor recreation as well as cultural events.

Hobbies & Interest: I love the outdoors and anything to do with hiking in the summer and skiing in the winter. I also enjoy playing the guitar, particularly anything with a blues sound. I am very interested in travel especially if combined with a medical mission trip. I lived in China for two years and have traveled extensively throughout Asia, but I am also interested in the Spanish speaking world as well. Maybe one day I can call myself a foodie, but until then I simply love good food.
