Shardale McAfee
Shardale McAfee, MD

Jackson, MS

Shardale McAfee earned her medical degree at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and attended Tougaloo College for her undergrad. In her free time she enjoys drawing, writing, playing piano, and discovering new things. What she loves most is traveling and learning about new cultures and their norms. If she could learn the language of each place she visited, she would.

When asked why she had chosen Kent she said "I chose Kent because it met my interests in serving and underserved population along with its primary focus in community medicine. When I’m well beyond training, I’d like to serve in the underserved communities and travel to unreached places, where medicine isn’t so readily available.

By training at Kent, I fell that I will be more than prepared to tackle those unfilled dreams. Not only was it attractive academically, but socially as well. As I considered each interaction and conversation, I well remember that each person was very warm and nice, which reminds me of home."

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

John Quiamas earned his medical degree at Western University COMP and attended UC Irvine for his undergrad. In his free time he enjoys running, hiking, dancing, and cooking.

When asked why she had chosen Kent she said "I chose Kent because of the great attitudes of the faculty and the curriculum of my program. The faculty from the Family Medicine Program and hospital were very welcoming and genuine. Thus, I felt no barriers in the next phase of my medical training.

I also chose Kent because of its affiliation with the Thundermist Clinic. As a future physician caring for underserved populations, I am truly blessed to be part of a clinic that provides full-spectrum healthcare to patients who may not be able to afford it. Being able to provide continuity obstetrical care for women, adults, elderly and pediatrics in both the inpatient and outpatient setting, Kent Hospital was the perfect fit for me."

Kennebunk, Maine

Kristofer Tupper earned his medical degree at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine and attended Bowdoin College for his undergrad. In his free time he enjoys snowboarding, surfing, wakeboarding/wakesurfing, waterskiing, XC skiing, hiking, mountain biking, traveling, cooking, live music, and exploring new restaurants and breweries.

When asked why she had chosen Kent she said "I chose Kent because I was looking to remain in New England where I would be near family and close to my girlfriend who will be a Pediatrics resident at UMass Memorial Children’s Hospital. New England is an incredible region that offers a diverse population, culture, cuisines, geography and outdoor recreational activities – all in close proximity to the beach and fresh seafood!

While I did not rotate through Kent, the hospital and residency programs came highly recommended to me by my colleagues from UNECOM who completed their third year clerkships and elective rotations at this core affiliate site. I am excited about the myriad of clinical experiences available to us through Kent’s diverse curriculum, which combines a central focus of community-based, patient-centered continuity clinic with a variety of subspecialty rotations. The faculty and residents are warm and supportive, and I am excited to be working in a collaborative environment with this wonderful group."
