About the PHO
Established in 1987, Kent County Health Services, Inc. (Kent PHO) is a non-profit “joint-venture” organization consisting of Kent Hospital and over 200 physicians on Kent Hospital's Medical Staff. The PHO is committed to improving the healthcare in the community.
The PHO assists physicians in controlling their overhead costs by arranging products and services for its members at discount prices. It also conducts educational seminars, which provide the physician practice with the latest information they need to know in the ever-changing healthcare environment. In addition to serving as a “messenger” on third-party payor contracts, the PHO contracts directly with managed-care companies and other third-party payors on behalf of its members. To improve the practice environment for its members, the PHO also serves as an advocate on political and legislative issues affecting its membership.
The overall purpose of the PHO is to provide services to its members to enhance their ability to provide high-quality, cost-effective care to the patients they serve.
