Take a virtual tour of Kent's Outpatient Rehabilitation Center
Everyday we rely on our ability to communicate with others. So when that ability is lessened, it's an especially trying time. Our speech-language pathologists understand how difficult a communication disorder can be. Our pathologists use a sympathetic approach to help patients with disorders such as:
- Neurologic impairments
- Traumatic brain injury
- Voice disorders (including laryngectomy rehabilitation)
- Childhood delayed speech and language
- Fluency disorders
- Progressive neurologic disorders (such as ALS, Parkinson's disease and MS)
Speech-language pathologists service the continuum at Kent Hospital, from inpatient, to the rehabilitation center, to home care, to outpatient. Patients may enter and exit the continuum at any point, or may utilize all services, if necessary.
Unique to this region, are our swallowing disorder (dysphagia) programs, including the Modified Barium Swallow Studies, which provide complete evaluation and treatment. In conjunction with Barbara Guillette MD, a board certified otolaryngologist, the speech pathology department offers Videostroboscopy evaluations, which enables the physician to view and identify vocal cord conditions.
